Tom's Surgery and Lily Update

Tom had back surgery yesterday.  A right sided L5-S1 microdiscectomy was done without apparent complications.  He can still walk and is not incontinent!  The surgery was pretty painless and he was walking within 2 hours.  I don't even think he said anything too stupid when coming out of anesthesia!

Trent, Stephanie, and Lily are doing well.  Lily is a high demand baby -- eat, sleep, cry.....    But going and getting a little less fussy.  The Baby blessing will be Sunday March 8th.  Tom and Sherrie will not be able to go, but Trent's parents will be there and GM and GD Davis also.

She is a sun bather!

Post-surgery (he's looks very excited)

Yes, that is the disc specimen!!

Growing up

Lily is growing fast.  Already we can see that her nose and hands are bigger.  Stephanie says that they have already had their first tornado alert for the new year.  Lily's baby blessing will be on March 8th.   Tom and I will not be able to attend due to Tom's pending surgery and call schedule.  Trent's parents will get Lily all to themselves!  Great Grandma and Grandpa Davis have said that they will try to attend though. That would be nice!

Joy and sadness... emotions from the week

This week has been full of many emotions.  We learned this week that my brother Spencer had sudden cardiac death from a massive heart attack.  His death was quick and totally unexpected.  He and I had many wonderful times together.  We were not close when we were children but became close during our years of academic study and throughout our first years of employment.  Over the past many years we drifted apart once again.

He was a wonderful person.  The Lord gave him many challenges; many of these often distracted him from his eternal course.  He apparently was doing better as of late and to this we give thanks.  He was a loving man, full of charity, and always willing to help others;  this even when his own life was filled with pain and turmoil.

I will miss him most dearly; I look forward with faith and hope to that day when he and I will embrace again.  Spencer, brother, I love you so much.

In the meantime our little Lily continues to grow in grace and beauty.  She has been a delight to her parents and grandparents.  Life, the great plan, goes on -- praise be to God!
