July 5, 2009

While up at Camp Loll Jessica, Spencer and I did some hiking. Even though the mosquitos were thick we did a trail south of the park as well as one onto the central plateau of Yellowstone. When Sherrie and I got home there was still hail in the shade garden (this despite a 90 degree day)! Now that's a lot of hail!

While I went to Camp Loll to see Spencer, Sherrie went the annual Sara reunion in Mantua. On her way home she stopped in Inkom and at our house to get some things to bring up to the townhouse in Victor. She was met with an amazing site. Inkom was flooded with water, mud and tree debris everywhere, and when she got home she found 4 inches of hail surrounding our house! Apparently a severe thunder storm cell had just gone overhead. Our garden, flowers, and many of our plants where pulverized by the hail. Many of the trees are partially stripped of their leaves; the worst was the Italian prune tree. It will be interesting to see what grows back.

Spencer is doing well. He is settling in to his teaching responsibilities at Camp Loll. During the skits he is Franz of "Hanz and Franz" fame. That is him flexing at a flag ceremony. The mosquitos where incredibly thick; it is suprising he has any blood left!!
